Old Maid

Old Maid is an Android smartphone adaptation of the popular game ‘Old Maid’, which is a popular game in Spain as well.

Gameplay in Old Maid goes like this: in order to play, you’ll need a deck of French cards; the first thing you need to do is get rid of three queens and leave the fourth one inside the deck (this is the old maid). The objective of the game is to make sure you’re not the player with the old maid when there are no more cards left. To do so, you first have to get rid of all the pairs of cards you get an put them in the center of the table. After that, the player to your right has to spread out their cards and you have to pick one. If it makes a pair with one of the cards that you already have, get rid of the pair by placing it in the center of the table. Then, you have to spread out your cards and the player to your left will take one of your cards and make a pair. In time, all the pairs will be discarded and the players will have no more cards left. When the only card left is the Old Maid the game will be over.

Old Maid is a pretty simple but really fun card game that’s incredibly well adapted to smartphones. Also, it includes a first round as a tutorial so you can learn how to play and then continue against the artificial intelligence or other online players and be a part of the player ranking system.
